THE Queensland prime minister, Mr Peter Beattie, has announced a $A 247 million ($US 173 million) project to upgrade track and trains on Brisbane's Gold Coast Line as part of an overall $A 400 million CityTrain infrastructure development plan.
The Gold Coast Line upgrade will enable passenger service peak frequencies to be increased from 30 to 15 minutes. Work will involve doubling the Ormeau-Coomera section and adding a third track between Salisbury and Kuraby at a cost of $A 184 million. The remaining ...
