Even Santa Claus occasionally needs extra help to give each child a merry Christmas.
For Smithfield resident Lavonda Parker Santa's help comes disguised as a usually vacant storefront at the Smithfield Square Shopping Center off Route 10. During the height of the Christmas shopping rush, the store awakens for two days to fill its tables with toys off all shapes and sounds.
The empty storefront is filled with soccer balls, dancing dolls, play ponies and neon palm trees. Around the corner are coloring books, puzzles, cool backpacks and even spy vision goggles.
And yes, batteries are included. ...
