Today's heavy duty truck has a seemingly insatiable appetite for clean, dry, compressed air. Air system components must operate with precision and reliability, and tolerance for contaminants such as oil, dirt, water and ice has become lower as these components have become more sophisticated.
For example, "ABS valves will not function properly if there is moisture present," says Leslie Kern, heavy-duty product manager at Chicago Rawhide (CR). "Air dryers and their maintenance are more important now than before the advent of ABS."
