Many American Moravians and especially Lutherans believe that a tense, face-to-face dispute between Count Nicolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf and Heinrich Melchior Muhlenberg that occurred on December 30, 1742 o.s. in a house in Philadelphia was the foundation for bad relations between the two denominations in this country.
