The last year has seen a flurry of changes in parts of the global tyre business, as detailed below.
Plants opened in the last year
Continental
Continental AG is the majority partner in a joint venture with Moscow Tire Co. to make tyres using equipment shipped from Continental's former factory in Gislaved, Sweden. The pair are (November 2003) in the final stages of preparing the new factory for production. Capacity is scheduled to reach 3.5 million car tyres per year by 2005.
Michelin
