Elma Lewis, an artistic icon in Boston and a national proponent of African-American arts, died last night after being rushed to Boston Medical Center.
The founder and artistic director of Boston's version of Langston Hughes' "Black Nativity," Miss Lewis, 82, was nationally known and respected as the founder of the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts and the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists in Roxbury.
