Nov. 24--There's no surfing in Ontario -- regardless of what the cover of Ontario's Visitors Guide depicts. There are no anthropomorphic mice, ducks or chipmunks. There are no mountains within the city limits.
Ontario's tourism marketing plan is proximity to the things it doesn't have. The surfing is about a 45-minute drive, which is 15 hours closer than Denver. Disneyland is less than 30 miles away, about the same distance from Ontario International Airport as it is from Los Angeles International Airport. There's skiing and hiking in the nearby mountains. ...
