Breast cancer activists from many diverse backgrounds came together on May 16 to discuss the formation of a national breast cancer coalition. Representatives from grassroots organizations as far west as California met in Washington, DC with representatives from the East Coast planning group that includes members of the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations, the Mary Helen Mautner Project for Lesbians with Cancer, and the Faulkner Breast Centre. The overall goal of the Breast Cancer Coalition is to channel the energy and demands of all breast cancer activists into a unified voice.
