The planned renovation of south Eugene's largest shopping center, near 29th Avenue and Willamette Street, appears close to clearing a key hurdle.
The owner of Willamette Plaza and anchor tenant Rite Aid Corp. hope to finish negotiations for a new store lease in the next few weeks.
Under the proposed plan, Rite Aid would move from its too-large building to a smaller structure that the landlord, Portland-based Standard Insurance Co., would build close to West 29th Avenue.
That would allow Standard to raze the old, 78,000-square-foot Rite Aid building. In its place, Standard would ...
