Yesterday's test of the Pentagon's sea-based missile defense system ended with a successful intercept of the target, according to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
The flight test was conducted as part of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) program managed by MDA and the Navy. Yesterday's test--designated Flight Mission-6 (FM-6)--is the fourth of six flight tests being conducted as part of the MDA's effort to develop a sea-based ballistic missile defense against short to intermediate range ballistic missiles.
