It's refreshing to realize that television's most famous rifle shooter was actually a big handgun fan. For those of us who grew up during the golden years of the TV Westerns, as well as newer generations seeing these classic "oaters" for the first time on cable reruns, one of the longest-running programs was The Rifleman, starring Chuck Connors. This popular ABC series premiered on September 30, 1958, and ran until July 1, 1963.
