Poor market conditions in Brazil's wood panel business have led particleboard producer Berneck Aglomerados SA to shelve bold plans for the country's second OSB plant until 2007.
Last year the Curitiba-based firm was confident it could launch its own OSB line as early as late 2004, in response to a growing market for the panel developed by pioneer OSB manufacturer Masisa do Brasil Ltda.
But in January this year, Berneck was still awaiting an outcome of market studies, completion of basic engineering details and was analysing the project's viability in the light of the new leftist Workers Party government in Brazil.
