IN 1989, PETE Rose published his autobiography, called "Pete Rose: My Story." Now, in 2004, Rose has come out with another autobiography, called "Pete Rose: My Prison Without Bars," subtitled "My Story Again: Uh, I'd Like to Revise My Earlier Statement."
("My Prison Without Bars?" That's a good one. How about "My Card Show Without Taxes?")
Rose's latest public pronouncements bear two startling truths that are difficult to fathom.
1. Rose now admits he bet on the Reds while managing them.
