Yukos pushes RTS up to 550 points
MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Yukos shares led the market up for the first time in a while on Monday and pushed the benchmark RTS index to over 550 points.
Yukos closed up 6% on the RTS to $10.15. Demand for Yukos grew amid a wave of rumors that ExxonMobilCorp was still interested in the company's assets. Most of the other blue chips added 0.7% to 2.7%.
The RTS index went up 1.91% to 551.35 points, its level almost six weeks ago.
Signs that ExxonMobil is interested in buying Yukos shares if the merger with Sibneft falls through are a good thing for the troubled Yukos, traders said.
