QUEBEC CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2004

Gail Zappa, widow of legendary musician and composer Frank Zappa, in Quebec City for a trial in Federal Court against retailer Ameublements Tanguay Inc., expressed relief that the company issued a formal apology to the Zappa family and that she now has a judgment declaring that the company infringed on the copyrights and moral rights to Frank Zappa's music. The Quebec-based chain took one of Zappa's signature Guitar pieces "Watermelon in Easter Hay" and used it without consent as background music for furniture and appliance commercials in 1995.
