Jan. 13--MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C.--As Charleston County maneuvers for a referendum that could bring about a half-cent sales tax and thus an influx of much-needed cash, Mayor Harry Hallman is cobbling together his own back-up plan to ensure that this town's road needs are met.
The issue for Mount Pleasant isn't as much bus service as it is new road projects, which could greatly ease what has become a critical traffic situation here. While a new sales tax would mean more active bus routes on the peninsula and in North Charleston, for Mount Pleasant, which had ...
