Jan. 14--Mike Burbach, who was named managing editor of the Akron Beacon Journal on Tuesday, said his goal is "to help create a newspaper that is as interesting as its community."
"We have to look really hard for that intersection of what we can be really good at and what people want," Burbach told the Beacon Journal staff during a meeting to announce his appointment.
Burbach, 44, is vice president and executive editor of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, Ga., a position he's held since 1997. The paper, which has a circulation of 50,000 daily and ...
