After developing two generations of full-sized pickups that didn't quite meet the definition of "full,'' Toyota made it clear last week that it won't make the mistake a third time.
The automaker's FTX pickup concept, unveiled at the Detroit auto show, measures in at nearly 19 feet long and is 7 feet wide. Riding on 37-inch tires and a cartoonishly long 149.8-inch wheelbase, it is larger than all but the heavy-duty versions of the domestic full-sized pickups.
Toyota officials said the FTX is a close approximation of the production Tundra that will arrive for the 2006 model year.
