MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS turned in a surprising performance in 2003, moving ahead 5.5% in supermarkets to $372.7 million and even more impressively in drug stores, where they rose 8% to nearly $758.1 million.

Those sales figures contrasted with a 1.7% decline in supermarkets in 2002 and a I. 1% increase in drug stores that year. Pharmavite Corp.'s Nature Made held on to its leading category position.
