MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS turned in a surprising performance in 2003, moving ahead 5.5% in supermarkets to $372.7 million and even more impressively in drug stores, where they rose 8% to nearly $758.1 million.
Those sales figures contrasted with a 1.7% decline in supermarkets in 2002 and a I. 1% increase in drug stores that year. Pharmavite Corp.'s Nature Made held on to its leading category position.
Although the total vitamin and nutritional supplements sector has not experienced the significant expansion it enjoyed in the latter half of the last decade, the future appears bright, in part because of the continued interest of the aging baby boomer population. ...
