NEW YORK -- The proliferation of diverted hair care products in chain drug stores is a mixed blessing, according to retailers and suppliers.
"It's hot," Duane Reade senior vice president of sales and marketing Gary Charboneau says of the diverted segment. "It's a very big category for us."
At Duane Reade professional products have probably grown faster than any other hair care items for five years running, notes Charboneau.
On the other hand, he acknowledges that supplies of diverted products are prone to disruptions.
