ANOTHER book about Mary Queen of Scots? Well, at least this time she should surely have found herself a doughty champion. John Guy is a noted historian of early-modern England, with a wealth of impressive publications to his credit. So I much looked forward to the result when he turned his attention to Scotland; I even thought he might persuade me to modify my distinct lack of enthusiasm for the fatal queen.
