Shanghai Telecom terminates free WLAN services in public areas
Shanghai. January 20. INTERFAX-CHINA - Shanghai Telecom's program of providing free wireless broadband access to individuals who subscribe to its wireless broadband services at home, will be terminated after the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), Zheng Jianping, a PR official with Shanghai Telecom, told Interfax in an interview.
Originally launched in late March 2003, Shanghai Telecom's Tian Yi Tong program provided free wireless broadband access at public venues such as Starbucks, Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants, Haagen-Dazs ice cream stores and Gino Cafes. However, beginning January 21, ...
