65 TLC Jobs, Lost; Otte Takes Reins
Some 65 Learning Channel employees will have their jobs eliminated on Oct. 1 as a result of the network's being folded into Discovery Communications, parent company of The Discovery Channel.
Another approximately 20 positions which have been vacated since early spring will also be eliminated. In all, this means that roughly 80 positions or 50 percent of the pre-purchase staff's jobs have been eliminated.
However, Discovery executives said they anticipate needing 45 new titles and positions to operate The Learning Channel and that former employees will have first crack at those jobs.
