Call it hip-hop, be-bop, jammin' or simply house aerobics. Funk is now the catchword for original, fun-filled workouts.
Originally an East Coast phenomenon, funk has added new dimension to the fitness industry. Typically, aerobic classes use combinations of steps such as jacks, kicks, knee lifts, ponies, etc. When used creatively, these combinations provide exhilirating workouts. Step benches offer yet another dimension to exercise. Both workouts offer a concreteness of form, enduring routines and a stable repertoire of movement--enhanced by the style and intensity of the instructor, makeup of the class, ambiance of the room and the music.
