Jan. 24--The idea of extended gate hours at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles received overwhelming support at a California Assembly committee hearing on the issue in Paramount on Friday.
But while at least one proponent said the massive port complex should start a pilot program with extended hours as soon as possible, committee testimony acknowledged there are still key questions that could scuttle the idea.
