SAUK COUNTY -- Halfway between Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells, on a frigid but sunny morning, tree branches glisten from a light coating of frozen rain.
The turnoff is unmarked, the road rugged and slick. The landscape is bare, the mood quiet. Even the three curious chocolate Labs that trot over to greet and sniff their visitor are silent.
A massive amount of wood has been cut and stacked in the back yard of this stone and wood house, which is set back and on a bit of a hill. Inside, the view from huge windows is of nothing - and everything - on a single-digit winter day.
This is home for Nina Leopold ...
