Jan. 27--A government ban of cattle blood in livestock feed won't change the way feed yards do business, industry officials say, but it could affect prices up and down the beef market.
The Food and Drug Administration announced steps Monday to close loopholes in its livestock feed ban -- a key protection against spread of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, a brain-wasting disease in cattle -- and to make sure people don't consume risky animal parts in processed foods and supplements.
