The hospital, sensing a case of child neglect and dealing with a dissatisfied father, was about to call state authorities.
But the dad, a graduate student from Asia who was studying dentistry at the University of Washington, didn't deserve harsh treatment.
"What he really needed was respect and someone to listen to him and give him a chance to collaborate on his child's care," said Dr. Ben Danielson, medical director of the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic in Seattle.
