2004 FEB 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A somatotropic-axis deficiency affects the brain substrates of selective attention in childhood-onset growth hormone deficient patients.
"Reduced levels of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) are associated with deteriorated cognitive performance in senescence. Little work has been done on the effect of GH and IGF-1 on a crucial aspect of cognition, selective attention," researchers in the Netherlands report.
