A Federal advisory committee to the Food & Nutrition Board (FNB) at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recently released a report discussing, among other issues, the need to adjust the percent Daily Values (DVs) of nutrients that appear in the Nutrition Facts box as well as Supplement Facts box on products. According to the committee, there was a need to change the way DVs are calculated so that consumers could compare products more easily and make more informed choices based on the latest science.
