HOUSTON -- The perils of courting the boss' daughter seemed prohibitive for the man who would become vice president of personnel for the AFC champion New England Patriots.
Scott Pioli, then a budding executive with the New York Jets, understood the dire warnings issued by concerned co-workers. Couldn't Pioli pursue a relationship with someone other than Dallas Parcells, the youngest daughter of the most feared coach in the land?
"People in the office warned me about that," Pioli acknowledged this week, days before his Patriots were to play in Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Pioli laughed at the memory, but ...
