Dec. 3--CORINNA -- Dozens of land developers, real estate agents, bankers and community members gathered in Corinna on Tuesday to learn how a new amendment to Superfund laws will affect future property sales at Corinna's site. The laws have cleared the way for buyers to purchase property in the Superfund site and develop it.
The substance of the new laws, passed by Congress in 2002, is that purchasers who pay fair market value for Superfund property, as well as municipalities that acquire Superfund land, will not be liable for any cleanup costs or future liability. ...
