Feb. 1--If Kevin Meyers weren't so busy running Alaska's top-producing oil and gas company, he might make a decent living as a comedian.

In 1999, facing unemployment because his company was about to be swallowed by a rival, he cracked up an industry conference in Anchorage by flashing his resume on a big screen to candidly court job offers.

He still grins when telling the story of how he got engaged to his wife, Dore, in the Anchorage parking lot of that same rival, BP, where she previously worked.
