Jan. 31--When the New England Patriots meet the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in the Super Bowl, national pizza chains expect it will be their best-selling day of the year.
But the pizza-Super Bowl connection is weaker in the Sacramento area, possibly due to a larger variety of foods and better weather than in other parts of the country, plus the influence of California cuisine.
"Pizza is one of those things that's overdone," said Davis resident George Cleveland, who wasn't referring to baking time.
