NORFOLK -- The head of a major drug organization Monday was sentenced in federal court to life in prison for running a five-year, $23 million heroin and cocaine operation.
Karl E. Moore Sr., 40, formerly of the 2100 block of Chesterfield Loop, Chesapeake, ran the organization like a corporation and enlisted his wife and son as underlings.
He lived lavishly off his proceeds. He bought a stately home in Chesapeake and installed a pizza oven in the kitchen. He owned several cars, including a Cadillac, a Jaguar and a Mercedes Benz, and he gambled heavily, according to court records.
