Philips trims $400 from CD-I
The interactive video world got a shot in the arm this month thanks to a $400 price cut announced for Philips brand CD-I players, coming to stores in mid-October.
The players will list for about $1,000, and Philips officials say they expect the players to sell for about $800 after discounting.
CD-I is an expansion of Philips' compact-disc digital-optical technology that combines CD audio with text, graphics, animation and interactive capabilities. The Philips CDI-910 players connect to any television and stereo system.
