It's when Circus Conelli's red tent emerges overnight from the mists of the Limmat river, and the Bahnhofstrasse receives its ceiling of bright stare/ lights, the Burkliplatz's little concert pavilion transforms itself into a popular candle-making factory, and the Marli tram makes its way through the streets of Zurich, that Christmas begins for most people in this city.
