Feb. 5--MARINETTE, Wis. -- Workers at Marinette Marine Corp. swarmed the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alder early this week, putting finishing touches on the ship in preparation for its Saturday launch.
The sparkling new 185-foot buoy tender is destined to sail for Duluth, Minn., where it will replace the 60-year-old Sundew. But it first must wait for the Soo Locks to open, and for winter to release its icy grip.
