What Modern Was
Design, a longtime backwater in the world of museums, galleries and exhibits, has, in the last few years, become a major attraction. The exhibition Design 1935-1965: What Modern Was is the latest of a number of big design shows that offer both entertainment and enlightenment. This exhibit opened in February at the IBM Gallery of Science and Art in New York and is destined to spend about a year traveling onward to Los Angeles, Toledo, Kansas City, Baltimore, Montreal and Hull, Quebec, before it returns to its home base, the Liliane and David M.
