Before he gets to work in the morning, Byron Allumbaugh, 59, reads three newspapers, but not at the breakfast table.
While most of us are fighting to get in the left-turn lane and manipulating the radio buttons to hear the latest traffic report, the chairman and chief executive officer of Ralphs Grocery Co. is sitting in the back of a Cadillac sedan reading the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register and New York Times, not to mention making some early morning calls to the East Coast.
