The large screen radiated over the somber crowd like a watchful eye. But this eye shared more than it saw. It stood stark and dissonant from the sacred sea behind it, apart from and a part of the blend of ancient ruins and beachfront hotels that surrounded it.
This was no ordinary civic gathering, not a political rally for the party faithful or satellite link to athletic feats of international renown. I stood silent amid the throng in Israel's northern city of Tiberias, the lapping waves of the Sea of Galilee resounding rhythmically, ageless echoes for a timeless moment.
