Terry Francona did not come right out and say it, but the new manager of the Red Sox gave some indication yesterday that Ellis Burks could factor into his lineup as a part-time outfielder as well as a part-time designated hitter.
That means Trot Nixon might stand to lose some at-bats to Burks.
During a press conference in which the Red Sox announced the signing of Burks to a one-year, $750,000 contract, Francona indicated he would like Burks to see some time in the outfield.
