It is fair to say that Salzburg is proud of its most famous son. Stepping off the plane at the city's airport, visitors are immediately accosted by the strains of a traditional Austrian oompah band and by girls bearing baskets of Mozart balls (the chocolate and marzipan kind, of course).
By the time you have passed through luggage collection and into the arrival lounge you have seen ashtrays, posters, greeting cards, more Mozart balls, t-shirts, jigsaws, key rings -all bearing his image.
