STANLEY REED, ELECTED president of the Arkansas Farm Bureau at its December convention, will bring a new style of leadership to the state's most powerful lobbying group.
But that doesn't mean a change of course at the Farm Bureau. The "voice of agriculture" in the state is a grass-roots organization in which the members set the policies, starting at the county level.
And "you don't steer a big ship off course overnight," Reed said.
Reed, a Marianna cotton farmer, challenged and defeated David Hillman of Almyra to lead the Farm Bureau, a rare event in the nonprofit's history.
