Eccentrics of Comedy is a curious book in that it examines neither a particular form of popular culture nor a particular historical period but rather an aspect of the metagenre "comedy" that author Anthony Slide calls "eccentricity." In Eccentrics of Comedy, Slide provides biographical sketches for thirteen "eccentric" comedians from a wide variety of backgrounds and media, while providing precious little explanation as to what exactly his conception of "eccentricity" entails.
