LIMA, Ohio -- Those portly porkers that gave the world "the other white meat" now present "the other diet food."
An unglamorous snack food known as pork rinds has been discovered by weight-conscious Americans on protein-rich diets that shun carbohydrates.
Suddenly, the crunchy treats, made from a part of the pig more commonly associated with football manufacturing, are turning up in unlikely places like chichi supermarkets and on store shelves reserved for "better for you" foods, said Rich Rudolph, president of Rudolph Foods Inc.
