Byline: BILL RUEHLMANN
RIPE FOR REVIVAL: Wild Edna, the Girl Brigand.
She was one tough woman. She packed a rifle and pistols. She had issues with misbehaving men.
She also had an attitude.
Wild Edna sounds very contemporary, but she headlined an Edward L. Wheeler yarn for Beadle's Half Dime Library way back in 1878.
Then there was Denver Doll, the Detective Queen (1882). And the ever-popular Calamity Jane (1885). She was as macho as Buffalo Bill.
Maybe a bit more rugged, actually. The woman drank, smoked, swore.
