Black parents on Syracuse's South Side told 1st District Common Councilor Jeff DeFrancisco Monday that his proposed curfew is a bad idea for their neighborhood.

"A curfew will look great in DeWitt and Manlius, but it's not going to be effective around here," said Vincent Cobb Sr., who lives on Warner Avenue.

Cobb was among 35 people, most of them black, who gathered at the South Side Newsstand to talk about the proposed curfew.
