When the Iroquois gathered by Onondaga Lake to settle their differences and build a powerful confederacy, they followed a process that continues to this day in Central New York - from New Justice Services to Syracuse University's Program for the Analysis and Resolution of Conflict, which studies and helps to resolve disputes here and around the world.
The latest addition is the Elmwood Mediation Center, brainchild of Pastor Jeanne Radak of Elmwood Presbyterian Church, which opened on Syracuse's South Side this month.
