By the numbers, the kids at North Star Community School are a tough crowd to educate.
Almost all are counted as low-income for school lunch purposes. Many are Hmong students still learning English. And their families move a lot.
So it's not surprising that the North Side school generally trails the Minneapolis School District as a whole in test scores.
But the district likes enough of what it sees at the North Star school that interim Superintendent David Jennings has proposed picking up its teachers, students and programs and moving them four blocks to the bigger Jordan Park school next fall. It's ...
